Filling Instruments: Pluggers/Condensers
Filling Instruments: Pluggers/ Condensers: This category includes Plastics, Pluggers, Condensers and Placement instruments. All these instruments belong to Plastics Family, so called because they are used to mix up filling materials in a plastic or mouldable phase before they set.

Placement Instruments: These instruments are used to place base or line within the walls of the cavity, which has been carefully prepared. The ball-ended instruments help to spread the material thinly and evenly.

Pluggers / Condensers: After the cavity has been filled, the amalgam has to be compressed. This is done so: that the amalgam has reached all the available areas in the cavity; the material is packed internally as far as possible; to bring to the surface the excess mercury in the amalgam. So Pluggers / Condensers have to be rigid and should have the ends that assist in controlling the amalgam.

While the Plugger is used to pack, the Condenser has the additional role of removing excess amalgam.
